Ten years ago, I walked into a healthcare leadership team meeting with a set of diagnostic tools and a question I didn't fully know how to answer yet.
The question was simple enough: why do some leaders perform brilliantly under pressure while others, with equal technical expertise, equal experience, and equal resources, seem to buckle?
The answer, it turned out, was not complicated. It was hard to see, hard to measure, and harder still to act on.
It was human capability.
What 10 Years Taught Us
Growth Performance started as a behavioural science consultancy. We believed, from the beginning, that the thing most organisations were missing wasn't smarter strategy or better technology. It was an evidence-based approach to the human side of performance.
Over the next decade, we worked across some of the world's most complex and demanding organisations, including healthcare, retail, technology, media, and sport, with 50,000+ professionals at every level from frontline team leaders to C-suite executives.
What we found, consistently, was this: the organisations that outperform don't have better people. They have better conditions. They've invested in the human capabilities that allow people to perform at their best when it matters most: psychological safety, adaptive leadership, emotional intelligence, and team cohesion.
We built 83 assessment tools to measure these capabilities precisely. To give leaders and L&D professionals a clear, evidence-based picture of where their teams stand, and where to focus.
