RICE Scoring Template Prioritisation Tool
RICE Scoring Template
A framework for scoring and ranking competing initiatives objectively. RICE removes gut-feel from prioritisation by requiring you to score each item on four dimensions: Reach, Impact, Confidence, and Effort.
The RICE formula: Score = (Reach x Impact x Confidence) / Effort
Reach — How many people or outputs will this affect in a given time period? Score 1-10. Impact — How significantly will it move the metric or outcome you care about? Score 1 (minimal) to 10 (transformative). Confidence — How confident are you in your Reach and Impact estimates? Score as a percentage: 100% (very confident), 80% (reasonably confident), 50% (uncertain), 20% (speculative). Divide by 100 when calculating. Effort — Total person-months or effort units required. Higher effort = lower score. Score 1 (minimal) to 10 (massive).
Higher RICE score = higher priority. Items with equal scores: default to the one with higher Confidence.
